Pediocactus simpsonii var minor seedlings

These Pediocactus simpsonii var minor seedlings are growing from seeds planted at the end of April this spring. They were planted around the base of an adult Pedio which should act as a nurse plant. The mother plant will protect the seedlings, and next year these seedlings can be moved to a location where they will get more sun. Young seedlings actually need to avoid getting too much sun, so the adult plant can provide some shade and shelter for the new seedlings. These seedlings are being grown in outdoor conditions as are the adult plants.
