These small spin covered cacti have Chili as their native habitat, and many varieties have wooly tops as they grow. This group of plants are small globular cacti with a few varieties that will grow taller with age. Their flower colors are mostly red, yellow and sometimes pink tones. They need plenty of sun in all seasons and like wet summers, but need to have dry soil in the winter months. Eriosyce is a more difficult generic to grow than most other varieties, and it is an advantage to have a few years of growing experience before trying to grow any cacti in this group.
