This genus of small globose cacti range through Argentina and Bolivia. They only grow as large as a few inches and then will produce offset making ring after ring of smaller stems or puppies. As house plants they flower fairly easily, and often produce several blooms at once as they spread into a cluster of small flower making beauties . Their flowers range in color from white to oranges, pinks, reds and yellows too. It is important to keep them dry in the cool weather season, and avoid too much sun exposure. In the spring they may be slow to show new growth, but as the weather warms older plants will flower as the hottest days of summer begin.
